This and the last photo show me under general anesthesia. The hospital I'm at has one or more full-time anesthesiologists on staff. Since it's a teaching hospital & it's pretty big, I think they in fact have a whole department dedicated to that specialty. The technology may look a bit complex, but it's making it possible for the doctors to do some pretty sophisticated procedures. Everything important, like heart rate & respiration, was monitored at all times. If something went wrong, chances are that this facility would have a doctor or professor that might be able to help.
