Samples taken during the endoscopy &/or during other procedures.

An endoscopy was called for since an ultrasound evaluation indicated a problem with my small intestines &/or related areas.

A complete ultrasound exam was done to check all my organ & key body systems. When results are good enough, cats can be candidates for kidney transplants. Dialysis doesn't seem to be a very popular way to deal with kidney disease in felines.

The ultrasound revealed four potential problems: (1) there was a bright spot in my liver, (2) I had an enlarged heart, (3) the walls of small intestines were about as thick as they should have been, 4mm vs. 2 mm, & (4) my abdominal wall was thinner than it should have been.

An aspirate was done to see what corresponded to the liver bright spot. The results were inconclusive. Next, a biopsy of my liver was scheduled & done - nothing bad was found. The doctors thought the bright spot may have been some sort of fatty deposit.

Since my heart otherwise seemed to be normal, i.e., it sounded ok, the evaluating physician thought the enlargement may just be a fatty deposit and that, at this point, I didn't need to see a cardiologist to further examine my heart. Seeing such a specialist from the doctor's point could become an option if the 4 key ultrasound results didn't preclude me from the kidney transplant.

Having a thin abdominal wall isn't the worst thing in the world, but this could make the healing process after a major surgery, like kidney transplant, longer &/or more complicated.
