AmericanAnimalAwards.com, a web site started earlier this year, is currently accepting nominations in categories like "Pet of the Year," "Owner of the Year," and many others. If you have a pet or know someone that loves animals, we'd love to have you make a nomination and/or let others know about the site. We particularly need photos of pets, large animals, and people doing fun things with and for our buddies to make the site as interesting as possible. You can either mail the material to AmericanAnimalAwards.com or make an on-line application. The site's pretty easy to use - everything is point and click. It's a good idea to check in from time to time for updates. Sometimes our web masters need to ask people to submit nominations a second time due to various computer problems that are beyond our control. Pet Priest, the on-line equivalent to a prayer chain, is just starting to come on-line & is one of the most interesting parts of the web site. Regardless of when you or your family, friends, or others visit, there should be at least one or more virtual candles lit. If you click on a candle, photos and story about the pet should come up. Exciting upgrades for Pet Priest are planned. If you'd like to share your love for your pet, we'd love to have you light an on-line candle for your pet or any other animal you're concerned about. To be fair, we always plan to have a number of candles people can light for free. People, soon, should be able to light the candles with an automated system or by E-mailing - see Pet Priest for details. Another fun part of the site profiles Kahlua, an animal ambassador, and the challenges she faced in the last six months or so of her life.
While her case didn't play out as anyone expected / etc., there are some powerful lessons that can be learned from what did & didn't happen for her.
If you or those you know or are likely to come across have ever doubted your and/or their intuition on medical matters, I strongly encourage you to follow Kahlua's story for helpful hints, etc.
You may be able to save or, at least, prolong a special life.
Visitors to the site can help support AmericanAnimalAwards.com in a number of ways; ex:
If you know of smart, talented, and honest [i.e., fair] computer people that could help make Pet Priest, and the site in general, better, we'd love to here from them. I also need a marketing person or two that are able to work with minimal supervision. This position or two may be ideally suited to a retired person or various community or school groups with flexible needs. |
