Nikita

In late April / early May of 1999 my life was that of an unwanted stray. I found my way into this nice lady’s yard; she had been taking care of me for about a day or so when this human came across me one Saturday. He was going to say hi to these two dogs that live in the yard adjacent to the Garage that was now my home. I hoped he wanted me, even at first, but, the dogs Blue & Spot were like 90 pounds each & I was a little 6-pound kitten something like 10 months old with no one. I think I got his attention because I kept meowing and meowing and meowing. The neighbor with the dogs told him I’d been doing that pretty much all morning so I think he knew I was either lost, hurt, or unwanted. He said hi, talked to some more humans, and kept coming back to visit, bring me food, etc.

He and the lady w/ the Garage took turns taking care of me. As far as I was concerned, the Garage was a great home – lots of stuff to climb on and hide in.

The arrangements worked out great. I even had a statue of Saint Francis nearby.

After talking to the lady, he let the local humane society know about me in case someone was looking for me.

Since pretty much everyone told him I was a stray, he and the lady tried to decide what to do w/ me. The lady couldn’t take me in since she was already caring for 3 feral cats. He also had a cat that had been an only cat for almost 14 years so it wasn’t clear he’d be able to take me in either.

I could tell he loved the other cat, and I just didn’t have the heart to tell him she had little more than a year to live. Instead, I just concentrated on becoming the 2nd cat and seeing if I could make a new feline friend, no matter how much time she had left.

Once I followed him into the house, my Garage was next to where he lived, and showed him I knew how to use a litter box. More later on how the first few trips inside went! Over time he, my potential sister, and the rest of the family took me in. I had a home! I had to work for it, but I nonetheless had one.

In order to put less stress on my sister, he and my other humans had me spayed – at the time, they expected my older sister to live for years & didn’t think it’d be fair to ask her, an equally spectacular animal, to acclimate to me, a new & very active addition, & a potential litter of kittens!

Since they don’t let me out w/o supervision, they came to understand just how badly I wanted kittens: to this day I make regular pilgrimages to a nearby home w/ this cat I’m sweet on – one time I got away from my buddy & chased this tom around his house a time and half before my human could bend down to reach for the leash. Other times, I’d just dart after him or hope he was near.

Had they had know what my sister was facing, I never would have been spayed so soon.

Well, u kinda know the rest from the above – letting interrupted biology play out w/o helping me proved too heartbreaking and just didn’t seem like the right thing to do. The more and more one of my human’s talked to the people at PerPETuate about cloning, preserving my DNA, etc., the more he understood that cats, dogs, other animals, and humans a like could benefit from technologies like genetic engineering, cloning, etc.

I will keep after my human to give some additional examples as soon as possible.

From a genetic point of view, my clone having kittens is, for all practical purposes, identical to me having kittens myself. Kinda kewl.

I’d also love to have you as one of my virtual owners, virtual friends, virtual sponsors, or honorary trustees. There’s so much more I’d like to tell u about me & my sister and what she went through. Some of this may help u and/or your pet.

Your support can make a real difference.

I never thought I’d be so fortunate: a fun place to stay, a new sister, a chance to undo a tragic mistake, . . . Who knows, maybe that statue of Saint Francis or Saint Francis himself was and is looking over me. Another favorite place of mine, next to that tom’s house, also has a statue of Saint Francis.

Regardless of whether you’re religious or not, there’s of course a place for you here!

If you could tell your favorite Internet site, newspaper, radio station, cable channel, local TV station, and/or other media outlet about me, that’d be great. You and/or others may contact me by email at AmericanAnimalAwards@hotmail.com. Please just say RE: Nikita in the Subject line.

You can reach this site directly by typing www.123clone.net

I’m able to travel, am willing to do satellite and/or all sorts of interviews. Just Ask!

If any Public Officials, Business, Civic Leaders, . . . would like to prove to their constituents they’re ready to lead their cities, states, concerns well into the future, please feel free to help out as well and/or contact me at AmericanAnimalAwards@hotmail.com. Please just say RE: Nikita in the Subject line. Some are cool, but others just don’t get the Power of Pets or Pet Love.

I’m just a little Calico Cat, but I don’t get how passing more laws or coming down harder on kids, young adults, adults, et al. helps any. Just seems to be making matters worse!

Maybe it’s time to try pets and/or other animals.
